Listerine For Toe Nail Fungus
Toe nail fungus has many people searching for various cures and treatments, some very unconventional ones as well. For example, there are claims that Listerine for toe nail fungus can work. Listerine, as you may already know is the mouth wash that has been around for about a hundred years. It was, and continues to be marketed for oral hygiene, conquering gingivitis, plaque and other bacteria.
With that said, it is well known to have antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, which has made it quite popular in uses other than what it was intended and created for. In addition to that, there is research that shows that oral health may have an affect on your overall health. The three essential oils that help this product kill germs include: Eucalyptol, Thymol and Menthol.
Therefore, because of its germ-killing capabilities, it is safe to say that a mild case of toe nail fungus can be cured with Listerine mouthwash. Keep in mind, however, that you should use the original product for such a purpose as it is stronger than the other newer and better tasting versions.
The method involved would be to soak your feet in Listerine for a period of no less than one week, preferably longer, perhaps 2 or 3 weeks. You will begin to notice that nail fungus will begin to fade away. Do not stop treatment before the fungus has completely cleared up to avoid it from recurring, as can often be the case with fungus of any type.
The problem in curing it completely often lies with the individual who impatiently stops the treatment before it is cured. Unfortunately, the fungus returns if it is not completely killed. With that said, if Listerine is the preferred choice in killing toe nail fungus, it certainly is a viable option, but patience is a virtue in order to achieve success.
